Dr. Nhu Q. Tran is a native of Southern California and grew up in the city of Long Beach. She attended the University of California Berkeley, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Integrative Biology.
Immediately following college, Dr. Tran relocated to the Midwest to attend Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated among the top of her class, became a recipient of the Pierre Fauchard Scholarship, and earned a membership into the National Dental Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon.
Following dental school, Dr. Tran returned to Southern California to pursue two years of additional post-doctorate training in pediatric dentistry, at the University of Southern California. After receiving her Advanced Pediatric Dental Certificate from USC, Dr. Tran pursued further advancement in her specialty by achieving the status of Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. All of this additional training allows her to provide the most up-to-date and thorough treatment for a wide variety of children's dental problems. She is also trained and qualified to treat patients with special health care needs. Aside from enjoying taking care of her patients in her own private practice, Dr. Tran spends the other half of her time working with the USC Pediatric Dental Residents. She is the Director of the USC Pediatric Dental Residency Program at the Children's Dental Health Clinic at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.
Dr. Tran has been active in organized dentistry since dental school, holding national leadership positions in the American Student Dental Association for three years. Continuing her involvement in organized dentistry, Dr. Tran served on the Board of the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry (CSPD) from 2004-2008. She also served as a member of the Editorial Committee for CSPD and Chairperson of the CSPD Membership Committee during those four years. Dr. Tran is also currently an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Orange County Dental Society, California Dental Association, and the American Dental Association.
